Find your perfect park with ParksHerts

17 Oct 2016

Stevenage Borough Council and eight other local authorities in Hertfordshire want people to have their say on the perfect park before launching a new web app called ParksHerts.

We want to know what’s important to people when deciding to visit a park. Whether they have a young family, enjoy walking, want to know about history, love a bit of nature or just want somewhere new to walk the dog, they can tell us by taking part in a quick survey at It will only take a few minutes to complete.

With more than a hundred flagship parks in Hertfordshire, ParksHerts will tailor searches based on who’s going and what people want to do. Once they’ve decided on a park they can find out about the facilities on offer and then track their walk, learn about their surroundings and even find out where the nearest café is!

Councillor John Gardner, Executive Member for Environment and Regeneration, said:
“We are very excited about ParksHerts, which will help people get out and get active in Hertfordshire. It’s so important that people have their say and help us build an app that will be informative, easy to use and contains all the information you need about parks in our area.

“The minute you step in to a park you reap the benefits, natural surroundings help reduce stress and tension. In just three minutes heart rate, blood pressure and muscle tension reduces. It also makes us feel happier, amps up our vitamin D intake, which is needed for healthy bodies, and can even help us age gracefully according to studies.”

Stevenage Borough Council, Hertsmere Borough Council, Broxbourne Borough Council, Three Rivers District Council, Dacorum Borough Council, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, St Albans City Council, East Herts District Council and Watford Borough Council are all taking part in ParksHerts. Hertfordshire County Council is also supporting the scheme. For more information about ParksHerts visit:
