Armed Forces Day flag to fly in Stevenage

14 Jun 2016

Stevenage Mayor, Councillor John Lloyd CC, will be joined by fellow councillors, representatives of the Royal British Legion and local ex-service personnel to raise the Armed Forces Day flag at Daneshill House on Monday 20 June.

Armed Forces Day, which is marked this year on Saturday 25 June, aims to raise awareness of the contributions and sacrifices made by current and former members of the armed services. This day also allows us to show support for the thousands of men and women who make up the armed forces community, from serving troops and service families to veterans and cadets.

Following the flag raising at 10.05am, the Mayor will host a coffee morning for veterans and local community groups.

Cllr John Lloyd, Mayor of Stevenage, said: “We have a strong community spirit in Stevenage and events like this allow us to come together and show our respect to members of the armed forces who have risked their lives for this country.”
