Don’t miss Stevenage Day on Sunday

06 Jun 2016

Come along to Stevenage Day on Sunday 12 June for an extravaganza of music, dance, entertainment and attractions at the biggest event of its kind in Hertfordshire.

Stevenage Day 2016 is extra special this year as it starts a series of celebratory events in the town to mark the 70th anniversary of Stevenage as a New Town. It also sees the return of Rock in the Park and music acts such as up-and-coming band Room 94 will perform on a new main stage throughout the afternoon.

A tethered hot air balloon offers rides above the event and as Stevenage Day falls on Her Majesty The Queen’s official 90th birthday weekend, the Mayor of Stevenage will relight the Queen’s Beacon. More than 200 stalls from local community groups, businesses and charities, also provide something for the whole family to enjoy.

Councillor Richard Henry, Executive member for Children, Young People and Leisure said: “Make sure you come along on Sunday for one of the county’s biggest free events. With the return of Rock in the Park and celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Stevenage, this year’s family fun day has a fantastic mix of local performers, stalls and attractions. I hope King George V Playing Fields are packed with people having fun and enjoying everything the day has to offer.”

Free car parking is available at the Forum, Southgate, Marshgate and St Georges Way multi storey car parks.

Stevenage Day is taking place on Sunday 12 June at King George V Playing Fields, from 12noon onwards.
