Creative young people in Stevenage can make their mark on the Pearl Izumi Tour series coming to town on Monday 6 June by designing the men and women’s stage winner’s jersey.

Thousands of people are expected to line the streets on June 6 as some of the best male and female cyclists in the world race around the circuit in the Old Town before sprinting to the finish line on the High Street.

Stevenage Borough Council and race organisers SweetSpot are running a competition, which is open until 26 April, for those aged 16 and under who live or go to school in Stevenage, to show off their digital design skills or pick up their pens, pencils and paints, and design the winning jersey.

A panel of judges will pick the winning design, with the winner not only getting the chance to stand on the podium in front of thousands and present the jersey to the stage winner, but also a jersey, printed with their design, to keep.

Stevenage Borough Council’s Strategic Director, Matt Partridge, said: “Here in Stevenage we’re looking forward to welcoming world class male and female cyclists when the Pearl Izumi series comes to town. This competition is a great opportunity for young people in Stevenage to show off their creative talents and be part of a memorable day for our town.”

All entries must be received by 12 noon on 26 April. The competition is open to children who live or go to school in Stevenage and are under the age of 16 by the submission date. Entries from children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by written consent from a parent or guardian.
