Stevenage Borough Council adds to housing stock

10 Mar 2016

As part of Stevenage Borough Council’s commitment to providing affordable housing for the town’s residents, the council is in the process of buying five new properties in Kilner Close from Paradigm Housing Association.

The homes, which have been constructed by house builder Taylor Wimpey and will be ready later this Spring, include two houses and three flats. They will sit alongside nine more affordable homes that are being delivered in partnership by Paradigm Housing Association and Stevenage Borough Council.

Councillor Ann Webb, Executive Member for Housing, said: “Providing quality, affordable housing for the people in this town is one of our top priorities and by acquiring these five properties in Kilner Close we are doing just that. Through Right to Buy we’re losing more and more homes each year, and by taking on schemes like this, as well as our other initiatives, we’re helping to add to our housing stock. I look forward to welcoming residents to these properties and the council in the near future.”

Andrew Main, Executive Director of Business Development at Paradigm Housing, said: “Paradigm Housing is very pleased to be working in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council to provide new homes to help meet the need for affordable rented homes in the town. We hope that we can continue to work together in the future.”
