Design a birthday card for The Queen

26 Feb 2016

The Mayor of Stevenage is inviting creative young people from the town to design a birthday card to wish Her Majesty The Queen a happy 90th birthday on Thursday 21 April.

The competition, which is open until Thursday 24 March, offers those who live in Stevenage and are 16 or under the chance to sharpen their pencils, refill their pens, dust off their brushes or show off their digital design skills.

A panel of judges will pick their favourite card, with the winning design used as the birthday card the Mayor will send to The Queen. The winner will also get a VIP invitation to the Beacon Lighting in Stevenage Town Centre on 21 April to mark The Queen’s birthday.

Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor Howard Burrell, said: “This is a great opportunity for all our creative young people in Stevenage to show off their talents and have their specially designed birthday card sent to Her Majesty The Queen. I wish everyone who enters luck and I look forward to seeing the winning design.”

All entries must be received by Thursday 24 March. They can be scanned and emailed to or left at the council offices addressed to Leisure Services. The competition is open to children who live in Stevenage and are under the age of 16 by the submission date. Entries from children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by written consent from a parent or guardian.
