Help us celebrate our local heroes

15 Jun 2015

Nominations for the Pride of Stevenage Awards 2015, promoted by SoStevenage, are now open.

The Pride of Stevenage Awards recognise those wonderful people who give their time, passion and skills to help make Stevenage a great place to live, work and play.

“There are so many people who work tirelessly to make life better and easier in their neighbourhoods and throughout the town, and the Pride of Stevenage Awards give us the chance to say thank you to them,” said Stevenage Borough Council leader Cllr Sharon Taylor, who is also chair of SoStevenage and one of the awards’ judges.

“We’ve honoured some amazing people over the years and this year we’ve added two extra categories – to recognise local businesses and the fantastic young people in this town. I’m sure everyone knows someone deserving of a Pride Award and it only takes a couple of minutes to nominate them.”

Residents, workers and visitors to the town are invited to nominate friends, colleagues, local businesses and anyone else that makes great things happen in Stevenage. A panel of judges will select the winners and the awards will be presented at a prestigious community reception in the autumn, when the Judges’ Special Pride Award will also be presented.

The seven SoStevenage Pride of Stevenage Award categories to nominate in are: Caring Award, Dedication Award, Enterprise Award, Green Award, Sporting Award, Team Award, and Young Star Award.

Previous winners have included Stevenage Borough Juniors Girls Football Team, Stevenage Seniors Forum, YMCA Space and The Friends of the Town Centre Gardens, as well as individuals who have made a difference in their communities.

There are opportunities for local businesses to support the Pride of Stevenage Awards with sponsorship. Email for more information.

Nomination forms and information about the entry criteria can be found online at  and paper forms are available at the Customer Service Centre in Danestrete.

Nominations must be made by 7 August 2015.
