Spruce up Shephalbury Park

01 Jun 2015

Come and lend a hand to shape up Shephalbury Park and enjoy an afternoon of face painting and giant games at the BIG Shephalbury Park Day on Sunday 7 June.

The whole community is invited to join Stevenage Borough Council staff from 10.30am on Sunday for the Big Tidy Up, where equipment will be provided for those wanting to take part. Then from 12noon to 3pm visitors can bring their own picnics and take part in fun and games in the park, including face painting, giant games and outdoor fun with the Stevenage Children’s Centres. They’ll also be able to make use of the play area, outdoor gym and tennis courts that the park has to offer.

Councillor John Gardner, Executive Member for Environment and Regeneration said, “Generally our parks are clean and tidy places for people to enjoy, but a small minority of visitors drop litter which can damage the environment and make the park unattractive to other visitors. These big tidy up days are a chance for local residents to show their love and appreciation for our green spaces by helping to tidy them up before enjoying a picnic.

“Whether Shephalbury Park is your local park or not, you’re all welcome to come and get involved in sprucing up the park for the benefit of the whole community, and enjoy the activities in the afternoon.”
