Stevenage Borough Council welcomes new tenants

20 Mar 2015

As part of Stevenage Borough Council’s commitment to providing affordable housing for the town’s residents, the council is in the process of buying 14 properties in Fresson Road from Moat, a housing association operating across the South East.

Moat is transferring ownership of the properties, which include a mixture of one, two and three bedroom flats and three and four bedroom houses, to the council.

Councillor Ann Webb, Executive Member for Housing said, “I’m pleased to be welcoming the Fresson Road residents to the council. Our priority is to provide quality, affordable housing for the people in this town and by acquiring these 14 homes we are doing just that. Through Right to Buy we’re losing more and more properties each year, and by taking on schemes like this, as well as our other initiatives, we’re helping to add to our housing stock.”

Director of Development at Moat, Sally Rice, said: “We’re committed to bringing an end to housing need, and that means making sure the homes we manage are in areas where we’re able to provide comprehensive services and housing support. As part of a wider rationalisation strategy, we decided that Stevenage Borough Council is best placed to manage these 14 homes and provide support to their residents. We wish the residents of Fresson Road well and are grateful to Stevenage Borough Council for their partnership and support.”
