National Apprentice Week

10 Mar 2015

Since Stevenage Borough Council launched its apprenticeship scheme three years ago, 18 apprentices have joined the Housing Management and Property Repairs, Business Improvement, Sports and Leisure, Customer Service and Environmental Services teams.

As part of National Apprentice Week (9 to 13 March), which looks at the positive impact apprentices have on individuals, businesses and the wider community, the council is celebrating their hard working apprentices, who were recruited with the support of North Hertfordshire College.

Last month five new recruits joined the scheme, working with our HR, Housing, Finance and Constitutional Services teams. As well as these five roles, our Customer Service Centre will shortly be recruiting another five apprentices to join their team this year.

Councillor Joan Lloyd, Executive Member for Resources, said, “Our apprenticeship scheme is a great way for young people to start a career. Our apprentices have shown hard work, dedication and passion for the job over the past three years and it’s great that more of our teams are looking to provide opportunities for young people.”
