Be a Green Space Volunteer

13 Feb 2015

If you enjoy the outdoors and want to help improve your town’s green spaces and parks, then come along to the council offices on Saturday 28 February to hear how you can become a Green Space Volunteer.

The council’s Green Spaces team is hosting an event for anyone interested in volunteering with them to come along and find out what’s involved, what activities you could be a part of, and what the current volunteers have been up to over the past year.

Councillor John Gardner, Executive Member for Environment and Regeneration, said, “Green Space Volunteers are a valued part of the council’s wider green spaces team. From planting bulbs and installing bird and bat boxes to maintaining woodland and ponds, over the past 12 months volunteers have been working hard to improve and maintain the green spaces in the town.

“We’re always looking for new volunteers. You don’t need any previous experience, just a passion for working outdoors and a desire to make a difference in the town you live in. Whether you can dedicate one or ten hours a month, we welcome and value everyone’s efforts.”

The event is taking place in the council chamber on Saturday 28 February from 10am to 12.45pm. Places are limited so call 01438 242 323 or email before Wednesday 25 February to book your place in advance.
