Stevenage Borough Council invests in its Revenues and Benefits service

04 Feb 2015

Stevenage Borough Council is investing more than £440,000 over the next two financial years in its Revenues and Benefits service, which is shared with East Herts Council.

The service, which includes dealing with housing benefit, council tax and council tax support, has seen an increase in a demand from residents following changes to benefits and welfare reforms.

Councillor Joan Lloyd, Executive Member for Resources said, “The demands that our teams now face is a reflection of the national picture, and not just limited to Stevenage and East Herts. The money that we’re investing will be used to provide a more efficient service that can cope with the growing needs of our residents.

“We’re committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable in our town continue to get the help and support they need, which is why we’re growing our Revenues and Benefits service.”
