Fun for all this Stevenage half term

Stevenage Borough Council’s play centres are putting on a range of themed activities for young people to enjoy with Pancake Day, Valentine’s Day and the Winter Olympics all taking place during February half term.

Activities at play centres in Bandley Hill and St Nicholas include a sensory awareness day with pancakes, and Valentine’s Day crafts. Pin Green play centre hosts a Winter Olympics day on Wednesday 14 February for those children inspired by this month’s event. Stevenage residents who are aged five to 14 are welcome at the play centres, which open from 9am till 12.30pm and from 1.30pm till 5pm on Monday 12 to Friday 16 February.

Paper arts and crafts are on the agenda at Stevenage Museum from Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 February. Create some paper hearts and give them to your friends on Wednesday, build a paper town on Thursday, and let your imagination run wild on Friday by making paper sculptures. Sessions take place between 11am and 12noon, and 2pm till 3pm at a cost of £3 per child. Drop in sessions on a Friday afternoon are free to attend.

Stevenage Town Square is also hosting events on Saturdays during half term with a chance to meet your favourite mascots, have your face painted, or try out a go-kart on Saturday 10 February from 10am to 3pm. Free car parking is available on the day at St George’s Way multi-storey. The following Saturday, performers from Practice Roomz live will keep people entertained in the Town Square from 11am to 2.30pm. 

Councillor Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “February half-term in Stevenage looks to be as exciting as ever this year as we’ve got lots of activities planned to keep Stevenage’s young people entertained. With our play centres putting on activities to mark Valentine’s Day, the Winter Olympics as well as tossing a pancake or two, it promises to be an action-packed week.”
