Cracking Christmas for Stevenage young people

11 Dec 2017

‘Tis the season to be jolly and Stevenage Borough Council has a range of festive activities that will put people of all ages in the Christmas spirit.

Activities at our play centres in Bandley Hill, Pin Green, and St Nicholas include festive crafts, making paper plate calendars, and  den building. Stevenage residents who are aged five to 14 are welcome at the play centres, which open from 9am till 12.30pm and from 1.30pm till 5pm on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 December as well as from 9am to 12noon on Friday 22 December. The play centres will also be open from 9am till 12.30pm and from 1.30pm till 5pm on Tuesday 2 January.

A Christmas Market is in the town centre until Sunday 31 December, and those wanting to see Santa should visit the Indoor Market on from Tuesday 19, to Sunday 24 December. Stevenage Museum hosts some fun, free activities on Saturday 23 December from 2pm to 3pm with families able to decorate oranges and make paper garlands. Hampson Park hosts a Christmas event on Thursday 14 December from 6.30pm to 9pm where Christmas games, crafts, hot chocolate and mince pies will be on offer to raise money for the volunteer Friends group.

Councillor Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “Christmas is coming and in Stevenage we’ve got lots of great activities on offer for young people to enjoy before Father Christmas arrives. Come along to our play centres, Museum and Stevenage Indoor Market for some festive fun that will add to the excitement of Christmas in Stevenage.”
