A firework finale brings the show to a close at 6.30pm after the lights have been switched on by long-serving Stevenage FC keeper Chris Day.

After the fireworks display the Mayor of Stevenage, Cllr Pam Stuart will be drawing the winner of a £150 Westgate shopping voucher for those people who took part in the council’s town centre events survey. Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor Pam Stuart, said: “It’s great for me to announce that our Christmas Lights Switch On show is in safe hands with Stevenage FC goalkeeper Chris Day turning the lights on. Chris is well known in the town for all he has done for the football club so I’m thrilled he will be joined by a host of music talent and entertainment to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.”

Chris Day said: “Turning on the Christmas lights is a real honour and I am excited to have my finger on the button this year. It is an event I have attended many times over the years and seeing as I am coming up to my tenth year at the club, I think the timing is perfect.”
