Halloween hoot in Stevenage this half term

20 Oct 2017

Stevenage takes a spooky turn this half term as a range of Halloween activities are on offer at Stevenage Borough Council’s play centres, Museum, and across the town from Monday 23 October.

Activities at Pin Green, Bandley Hill and St Nicholas play centres include Halloween decoration making, a ghost and monsters treasure hunt and a haunted house feelie box challenge. Stevenage residents who are aged five to 14 are welcome at the play centres, which open from 9am till 12.30pm and from 1.30pm till 5pm on Monday 23 to Friday 27 October.

Stevenage Museum hosts a free taster workshop on how to play the djembe drums from 10am to 11.30am on Wednesday 25 October before some Mexican Mayhem on Thursday 26 October and a Freaky Friday on 27 October. Sessions take place between 11am and 12pm, and 2pm and 3pm at a cost of £3 per child. Everyone is free to attend drop-in session on Friday afternoon.

A fun fair will be in the Town Square during half term and visitors will be able to sample the delights of Carmen’s Caribbean Kitchen, Nik and Bini’s Gemini Foods as well as oriental noodles, churros, and pancakes at a Taste of Stevenage on Friday 27 October from 3pm to 7.30pm. The Town Square goes Halloween-tastic on Saturday 28 October from 10am to 3pm with a vampire stilt walker, witch pot making, face painting, best dressed competition and much more.

Councillor Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Leisure, said: “From Halloween decoration making to a visit from a vampire stilt walker, young people looking to enjoy Halloween should fear not as the activities at our play centres, Museum and town centre during half term will give them all a thrill.”
