Stevenage youngsters turn the town centre multi-coloured

06 Apr 2017

Children from Stevenage made their mark on the Town Square on Wednesday 5 April as Stevenage Borough Council’s Play team held a pavement art competition.

Young people flocked to the Joyride in the Town Square to create a chalk masterpiece at an event organised by the council’s Play team to mark 50 years of playwork in Stevenage.

Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor John Lloyd CC, and Stevenage Town Centre Manager, Tina Benson, grabbed a set of chalks each and were given a helping hand with their drawings by the creative youngsters. The Mayor also presented children that took part with a certificate and special 50 Years of Play hats and t-shirts.

Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor John Lloyd CC, said: “It was nice to see so many young people from Stevenage add a splash of colour to the Town Square and show off their creative talents. Who knows we could have unearthed the next Banksy!”
