Council crowns Business Support Grant winner

20 Mar 2017

Stevenage Borough Council has crowned Dignity LC Services as the winner of its £2,500 Business Support Grant.

Dignity LC Services, which provides accessible bathroom for solutions for older and less mobile people, will use the top prize of £2,500 to develop an innovative toilet riser and create a brand that will be nationally recognisable.

Cyanetics, an industrial biotechnology company, was awarded second prize of £1,500 to help press on with their plans to develop a new process that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on non-sustainable energy sources.

Third-placed AIM Sales & Marketing, which supports marketing plans for businesses in Stevenage and Hertfordshire, took home £800 and will use the money for staff training and to invest in software support for new and existing clients.

Start-up or established businesses with no more than 10 staff in Stevenage were encouraged to compete for the grant and successful applicants were invited to the council’s headquarters to produce a pitch to a three-person panel on how the money would be spent.

Councillor Ralph Raynor, Executive Member for Economy, Enterprise and Transport, said: “Congratulations to our Business Support Grant winners, Dignity LC Services. We had a number of high-quality applicants this year but we were particularly impressed with their plans for the future and the benefits their products have for people with mobility problems. Thank you to everyone who applied for the scheme – it has been an exciting way for new and established businesses in Stevenage to develop further and I look forward to seeing how all three progress in the future.”

Chloe Prior, Director of Dignity LC Services, said: "Finding out that Dignity LC Services had won the Stevenage Business Support Grant was absolutely fantastic news. The £2,500 will massively help us achieve our business goals, as it will provide means for purchasing new product packaging, and to develop our new electronic prototype. The money will support the launch of our new product designed to transform and improve the lives of the older and less abled population. The team at Dignity LC Services are very grateful to be receiving this support from Stevenage Borough Council."
