Stevenage supports Small Business Saturday

28 Nov 2016

Stevenage Borough Council is encouraging residents to support local businesses and take advantage of discounts, offers and giveaways at shops across the town at Small Business Saturday on Saturday 3 December.

The event, which is partnered by the Business & Technology Centre (BTC) and Stevenage Indoor Market, is a chance to celebrate small and local businesses in the area. A £1,000 voucher giveaway, special discounts, and offers are up for grabs at Stevenage Indoor Market as well as fun-family activities, competitions and the chance to meet Santa.

Stevenage Old Town Business and Community Partnership is also championing Small Business Saturday by offering people the chance to win up to £100 in Old Town Partnership vouchers if they shop local and collect loyalty stamps. On the day partnership members will distribute goodie bags to all visitors on the High Street. Discounts and special promotions will also be available, and Councillor Sharon Taylor will present the loyalty stamp prize draw at 2.30pm outside Waitrose.

Councillor Ralph Raynor, Executive member for Economy, Enterprise and Transport said: “Stevenage has some great independent shops and businesses both in the town centre and in the Old Town High Street so Small Business Saturday encourages consumers to shop local. There’s fun for all the family this year as we’ve got big money giveaways and the chance to meet Santa.”

Small Business Saturday takes place in the town centre and Old Town from 8.30am to 6pm. Free parking will be on offer during the day in the Old Town and St Georges multi-storey car park.
