Council takes back keys in succession case

21 Dec 2015

Stevenage Borough Council has today taken back a council house after a resident falsely claimed to be living at the property.

Following a long investigation into the succession case by Stevenage Borough Council and the Hertfordshire Shared Anti-Fraud Service, which was due to go to trial in February 2016, the council were handed back the keys to the three-bedroom house in Chells.

Matt Partridge, Stevenage Borough Council Strategic Director (Community), said: “I would like to thank those officers who dealt with this case for all their hard work over a long period of time. This property will now be let to a family from the housing register.”

Stevenage Borough Council works in partnership with the Shared Anti-Fraud Service (SAFS) to target fraudulent activity.
