Youth Mayor set to launch Souls of Stevenage photo campaign

30 Oct 2015

Souls of Stevenage, inspired by Humans of New York, a photoblog started in 2010 that features street portraits and interviews collected in New York City, encourages the Stevenage community to take photographs as a form of expression.

Yvan is looking for pictures that share stories and capture the moment around Stevenage. They can be of day-to-day life, something inspiring and praiseworthy, or give an honest, constructive view of the town. He particularly wants to hear from the young community on what’s hot and what’s not in Stevenage.

Yvan’s photos will be uploaded with a caption to the Stevenage Youth Mayor Facebook page and on Twitter by following @StevenageYMayor and by using the hashtag #SoulsofStevenage.

Souls of Stevenage will be officially launched on Thursday 5 November and is open to all ages. It is encouraged that photos are not of people’s faces especially if participants are under the age of 18. If you want to be involved you can find out more by emailing YouthMayor@stevenage.gov.uk.

Yvan, who was elected Stevenage Youth Mayor 2015/16 in May, said: “Souls of Stevenage gives the community a voice and I want this continuous project to leave a positive, lasting legacy in the town. I want to capture and share real stories of real people in the community and see what is important to them in Stevenage.”
