Work begins on new skate park at Hampson Park

02 Jun 2015

Stevenage Borough Council Leader, Cllr Sharon Taylor, and Cllr Richard Henry, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Leisure, today visited Hampson Park to watch building work start on the new skate park.

The skate park has been designed in collaboration with local residents, skate users and the Friends of Hampson Park and is due to open in August. It’s being built by Wheelscape, who specialise in bespoke skate park designs, and will be free for local skate users, BMX riders and anyone interested in having a go at skating.

Councillor Sharon Taylor, said, “I’m thrilled that we’re building this fantastic new skate park that Stevenage people have long been telling us that they want. It will be a great facility for serious sports people and those who just want to have a bit of fun and stay active. I’m looking forward to coming back in the summer to see people enjoying it.”
