13 Apr 2015

World class cyclists on the Women’s Tour will pass houses, parks, shops and some of Stevenage’s historical landmarks before their stage finish in the High Street on Saturday 20 June.

The route for the Stevenage stage of the tour has now been finalised. After starting in Waltham Cross at 10am on 20 June, the racers will travel across Hertfordshire and come into Stevenage from Walkern – at the top of Fairlands Way at around 12.30pm. From there, it will go into Verity Way then Vardon Road, Grace Way, Almonds Lane, Rectory Lane, North Road, onto the High Street then Walkern Road and Church Lane. The police will apply rolling road closures of around an hour as the cyclists pass along this route. The race will enter the High Street at Church Lane and head north before finishing just outside the Cromwell Hotel. The first racers should reach the finish line by 1pm.

The High Street will be closed from 6pm on Friday 19 June to 9pm on Saturday 20 June, and some of the Old Town car parks and parking bays will be unavailable during that time. Full details are available at www.stevenage.gov.uk/womens-tour

There will be lots of fun, free activities taking place in the High Street on 20 June. Look out for details of these as the race date approaches.
