Heritage Local Listing

29 Jul 2019

We are asking you, the residents of Stevenage, to have your say and nominate buildings of historic interest from around the town that you feel are worthy of being added to a Local List of heritage assets.

A Local List includes buildings of all types that are considered to be of local historic significance, for instance because of their architectural or historic interest. Inclusion on the list will mean that their significance is taken into account when planning applications are dealt with. However, it is important to note that it doesn’t offer any additional protection at this stage.

As currently drafted, buildings included on the Local List have been taken from work previously carried out for the seven Conservation Areas in the Town; and so only concentrate on the Wards in which the Conservation Areas are located (Symonds Green, Roebuck, Shephall, Woodfield, Pin Green, Old Town and Bedwell). We want to ensure that we have considered all buildings that are important to you for their historic significance.

The nomination period for buildings to be included on the Local List runs from 29 July 2019 until 31 October 2019.
