Youth Forum at Stevenage Museum

22 Mar 2017

Would you like to help Stevenage Museum put on their nextTraditional-Herts-logo exhibition?

We are planning our 2017 summer exhibition, opening on 8 July, and it is all about the town’s Charter Fair.

Back in 1281 King Edward I granted the town a charter to hold a fair. As part of a countywide project called Traditional Hertfordshire and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) the museum is now planning an exhibition to celebrate the story of the Charter Fair.

If you are in year 10 - 13 we want to hear your ideas! We will be making research trips, doing art workshops and planning an exciting summer event.

We usually meet at the museum on every other Wednesday at 4.30 - 6pm.

Here is a taste of what you would be getting up to:

  • 29 March - Introduction: Welcome and basic research at the museum
  • 5 April - Trip to North Herts/Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies
  • 12 April - Lunch and consultation (12noon-2pm)
  • 19 April - Research and design activities
  • 3 May - Online research and social media content
  • 17 May - Art workshop

May Half Term Research trip to another museum or store

  • 7 June - Event planning for August event

Why Join?

It is a great way to make new friends as well as have fun finding out about the history of the town and how the fair we see today has changed over the centuries. Also being part of such a project is fantastic element to add to your UCAS statement and CV.
