Celebrations underway to mark 50 years of playwork

24 Oct 2016

Celebrations to mark 50 years of providing free play services in Stevenage are underway and we are on the hunt for some of the play centres’ stars of the past.

Since the Play service began in 1966, the hearts and imaginations of generations of Stevenage children have been captured by centres and holiday schemes at the likes of Bandley Hill, St Nicholas, and Pin Green – not to mention the Play Bus, the Mad Hatter's tea party and the annual Christmas party.

The Play team has dusted off some of their favourite photos from the past and would like anyone who recognises a familiar face to get in touch. If you spot yourself, or someone you know, in any of the pictures then please get in contact with us at playsection@stevenage.gov.uk or call into your local play centre and let the team know!
