Gambling Act 2005 - Statement of Policy 2016 - 2019

Licensing authorities are required by the Gambling Act 2005 to publish a statement of the principles that they propose to apply when exercising their functions. This statement must be published at least every three years. The statement must also be reviewed from “time to time” and any amended parts re-consulted upon. The statement must be then re-published.

Stevenage Borough Council consulted widely upon this statement before finalising and publishing. A list of those persons consulted is provided in appendix 2. Our consultation took place between 21 August 2015 and 16 October 2015 and we followed, where possible, the HM Government Code of Practice on consultation (published Oct 2013) which is available at:

No comments were received during the consultation period.

The policy following consultation, went to Executive Committee on 11 November 2015 and then to Full Council on 9 December 2015, at which date it received approval. This published version (available for download below) will take effect from 31 January 2016.
