The facilities that are available at the various sports centres are listed below.

Active Places

Sport England's online sports facility finder.

This is an easy-to-use website  that currently lists some 77,000 facilities including around 55,000 outdoor and 21,500 indoor places to play sport, get fit and have fun.  The site includes commercial and local authority leisure facilities which fall into three basic categories.

• Pay and Play - members of the public can turn up and pay a fee to use the facility
• Registered membership - people need to pay a fee to use the facility
• Sports club or community association - use of the facility is dependant on the users being members of a particular sports club or association.

Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre

The Arts and Leisure Centre houses the Gordon Craig Theatre, Concert Hall, Conference Suite, Multi-purpose Sports Hall, Indoor Bowls Hall, squash courts, Climbing Wall, Health and Fitness Suite, Dance Studio, Solarium, Arts and Crafts Studio, Carvery Restaurant, coffee house, licensed bar and one of the finest art galleries in Hertfordshire.

Sports and Leisure

Take advantage of the sports and leisure facilities including a large sports hall, indoor bowls hall, squash courts and snooker tables. Participate in a multitude of sporting activities including basketball, football, badminton, netball, squash, table tennis, volleyball and bowls. Fitness Suite

The Fitness Suite has over 90 stations of the top of the range LiteFitness equipment which includes the latest cross trainers, bikes and steppers. This is complimented with a cardio theatre, a spin bike studio a dance studio and Fitlinxx, your virtual training partner.

Stevenage Swimming Centre

Facilities include:

• A streamlined 33m main pool that is "deck level", allowing easy access for all
• A 12.8m teaching pool
• A fully air conditioned dance studio available for aerobic sessions and private hire
• A wide variety of course and sessions available to all, including Leisure 50, Ladies Only, Toddler Splash, established AquaEd SwimSchool Programmes for all ages and abilities, fun sessions and children's holiday activities.

John Henry Newman Leisure Centre

This dual use centre has a floodlit all-weather synthetic pitch for 11-a-side or 5-a-side football and hockey. The Main Hall and Ancillary Hall offer a wide range of activities from basketball, 5-a-side fooball, volleyball, badminton, short tennis and hockey.

Shephall Leisure Centre

The centre provides a wide variety of sports and activities for all the family.

• The spacious main hall offers basketball, netball, five-a-side football, volleyball, badminton, short tennis, table tennis, trampolining and indoor cricket nets.
• The modern air conditioned gym is fitted with 26 cardio-vascular and resistance stations, plus free weights. A spacious, light dance studio hosts aerobics and thai bo classes. Fully-qualified dance instructors teach street dance to all ages.

Fairlands Valley Park and Sailing Centre

Situated within the heart of Stevenage and covering 120 acres of beautiful parkland, Fairlands Valley Park and Sailing Centre provides extensive leisure facilities for all. The centre is renowned for its wide range of water sports facilities. Sports available take place on the 11 acre sailing lake, and include windsurfing, sailing, angling, kayaking and dragon boats. There is a recently refurbished play area for children for all ages complete with paddling and splash pools and a coffee shop.
