Housing Allocations Scheme

We have now completed the six month review of the housing allocations scheme that was implemented on 15 January 2015.

The initial feedback has resulted in some changes and the housing allocation scheme document has been amended accordingly and is now available to download.

We will continue to monitor the scheme and further changes will be made as necessary. Other changes are likely in due course in order to comply with recent new regulations introduced by central government.

The changes implemented so far include:

  • Older persons who do not have a local connection will be considered for low demand sheltered housing.
  • The employment local connection rule has been suspended for a period of one year from 1 June 2015.
  • Applicants aged 55 and over will be considered for first floor unlifted sheltered accommodation.
