Stevenage Borough Council is working with Leeds Building Society and Lloyds Bank to help first-time buyers take their first step on to the housing ladder.

First Step, our Local Authority Mortgage Scheme is now available in the Stevenage branches of Lloyds TSB and the Leeds Building Society. It means that first-time buyers with a 5% deposit will be able to access a 95% mortgage for their first home in Stevenage because the council will guarantee a further 20% with the lender. This will give prospective buyers access to lower mortgage rates without having to save for a large deposit.
