Use the 'Pay Online' button below to make a payment or to check your balance, all you need is your account / reference number which is 9 digits beginning with a 1. If you do not know your account / reference number you can apply online for it to be sent to you.

Your invoice will state the quarterly charges due and the date by which you must pay them. When making a payment always quote your payment reference, which is shown on the front of your service charges invoice.

You can pay

  • by Direct Debit.
  • using the 'Pay Online' button above
  • By telephone if you have a credit or debit card on 01438 242345.
  • By cash, cheque or debit card at the pay machine in our Customer Service Centre.
  • By Standing Order. You can instruct your bank to pay fixed monthly amounts. You must instruct your bank to amend the monthly amount when the service charge changes. To start paying by this method please contact the Income Team, who will be able to give assistance.
  • By Internet banking or Bank Giro Credit. Stevenage Borough Council bank sort code is 40 43 36 and the account number is 11549200. Complete a bank giro credit slip to make a payment at your bank.
  • By Post Office Giro Transfer. Complete a Post Office transfer slip to Stevenage Borough Council Giro account number 3107612.
  • By cash, cheque or debit card at any Post Office using your payment card. To start paying by this method please contact Income Team, who will be able to give assistance.
  • By post. Send a cheque crossed A/C payee payable to Stevenage Borough Council. Write your payment reference on the back and send it to the address below.

What to do if you cannot pay, or dispute the amount of, your service charges

You are advised to seek help immediately, if you cannot pay, or dispute the amount of your service charges. Those who can help you include the citizens advice bureau, the housing advice service/centre, a law centre or a solicitor. Show your invoice and a copy of your lease to whoever helps you. Any leaseholder who needs help to pay their service charges is urged to apply to the Department of Works & Pensions for benefit.

If you are in arrears on your service charges and you cannot afford to pay them, it may be possible to arrange repayment by instalments. To do this you should contact us at the below address:
