Community Meals (Meals on Wheels)
The Mobile Meals service delivers meals to older or vulnerable people in their own homes on a short or long term basis according to need.
A quality meals service is provided for vulnerable people unable to provide meals for themselves. Hertfordshire County Council provides a subsidised meals on wheels service to people who are eligible in Stevenage through Hertfordshire Community Meals, a not-for-profit social enterprise.
A choice of hot or frozen, dietary, ethnic and cultural/religious requirements are catered for.
The cost for each meal is £3.05 (as of April 2008). The service covers the whole of the Stevenage Borough and is available seven days a week including bank holidays.
Stevenage Borough Council provides a grant towards the cost of the meals in Stevenage.
