Agendas for meetings are published 5 clear working days before the date of the meeting. 

  • Council
    There are six Full Council meetings a year, held once every two months. All 39 Councillors meet together as the Council to agree Council Policy and set the Council Budget each year.
  • Planning and Development
    The Planning and Development Committee consider all major applications. The majority of minor and householder applications are determined by the Head of Planning and Regeneration under powers delegated by the Council.
  • Executive
    The Executive is responsible for most of the Council’s day-to-day decisions. The Executive meets once a month and is made up of 8 Councillors.
  • Standards Committee
    The Standards Committee assists Councillors to observe the Members’ Code of Conduct and monitors Members compliance with it.
  • Development & Scrutiny Committees
    There are 7 Development and Scrutiny Committees that undertake Policy Development work and carry out Scrutiny Reviews relating to the Executive Portfolio area covered by their Terms of Reference.
  • Audit
    The Audit Committee works to raise the profile of internal control, risk management and financial reporting within the Council.
  • Licensing Committee
    The Licensing Committee is responsible for the granting of Licences under the Licensing Act 2003.
  • General Purposes Committee
    The General Purposes Committee is responsible for the granting of all Licences and the hearing of appeals (except Licenses under the 2003 Licensing Act).
  • Herts Highways Joint Member Panel
    This Panel is a Joint meeting of the Borough Council and the County Council to prioritise local highway needs.
  • Joint Consultative Committee
    The Joint Consultative Committee meets as when necessary to discuss issues relating to terms and conditions of employment.
  • Joint Revenues & Benefits Committee
  • Statement of Accounts
    The Statement of Accounts Committee meets once a year to approve the Statement of Accounts in accordance with the Account and Audit Regulations 2003.
