NOTICE OF ELECTION

ELECTION OF BOROUGH COUNCILLORS
For the Electoral Areas listed below.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT:

1. Elections are to be held of BOROUGH COUNCILLORS for the undermentioned Electoral Areas.
2. The number of BOROUGH COUNCILLORS to be elected for each of the following Wards is ONE;

3. Nomination papers must be delivered to my office Room 414, DANESHILL HOUSE, DANESTRETE, STEVENAGE, HERTFORDSHIRE SG1 1HN, on any day after the date of this notice, but not later than NOON on 4 April 2008.
4. Forms of nomination paper may be obtained at Daneshill House, Danestrete, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 1HN from the undersigned, who will, at the request of any elector for the said Ward(s), prepare a nomination paper for signature.
5. If an election is contested, the poll will take place on the THURSDAY, 1 MAY 2008.

Note 1

The attention of Candidates and electors is drawn to the rules for completing nomination papers and other provisions relating to nomination contained in the election Rules in Schedule 2 of the Local Elections (Principal Areas) Rules 1986.

Note 2

Electors and their proxies should take note that applications for new postal votes, or cancellation of, or changes to existing applications, to be treated as an absent voter, for example different address for the ballot paper to be sent, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Daneshill House, Danestrete, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 1HN by 5pm on Wednesday 16 April 2008 if they are to be effective for this election.

Electors and their proxies should also note that applications for new proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Daneshill House, Danestrete, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 1HN by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2008 (or by 5pm on Thursday 1 May 2008, where the proxy relates to a medical emergency).
