Financial claims against Stevenage Borough Council

If you consider that you have been injured or your property damaged as a result of Stevenage Borough Councils' negligence or by an employee of the Council, acting negligently or in breach of any statutory duty, you may have the right to make a claim against us. However, it is recommended that you first contact your own insurers to obtain their advice and to see what assistance they can provide to you.
If you decide to pursue a claim directly against us you must write to:

Your letter must give details of the date and place of the incident, how the injury/damage happened, the extent of injury/damage and the amount you are claiming from us. You must also explain in what way you consider that we, or our employee has been negligent or in breach of a statutory duty.
When your letter is received an acknowledgement will be sent to you and your claim will be investigated. When the investigation is complete you will be contacted again. The claim may be forwarded to our insurers.

Contract Service Staff or Stevenage Borough Council are not authorised to discuss questions of liability or to make any offer of settlement The claim must be referred to the Insurance Officer.
