Co-operative Youth Work fund

The Co-operative Youth Work Fund, managed by our Community Development team, will provide up to £500 for projects and events that meet one or more of the following objectives:

  • Aims to challenge and explore crime and/or perceptions of crime among young people, including young people as victims of crime and criminal behaviours.
  • Aims to build and celebrate diversity and inclusion among young people, bringing together young people from BME, disability, LGBT+ and faith backgrounds to share and learn from each other.
  • Promotes young people as community leaders and organisers in their local neighbourhoods, helping to build stronger cooperative communities.
  • Promotes ecology and environmental learning and action.

Funding will only be offered to charities and voluntary organisations with an annual turnover of less than £500k.

Commitment to safeguarding

Applicants will be asked to provide details of safeguarding policies and practices, alongside accounts, volunteering and equality information. We reserve the right to also check the charities/CIO/CICs history via the Charity Commission and Companies House. Grants will only be given where policies and practice meet national standards in youth work delivery.

Stevenage Borough Council retains the right to refuse applications that do not meet our strict safeguarding and best practice standards.


Deadlines for submissions to Stevenage Youth Council are open from 1 June to 1 March each year, and are reviewed bi-monthly for decision-making.
