Stevenage Borough Council in conjunction with Hertfordshire Cycling, Cycling UK (Stevenage branch), Stevenage Cycling Club, Kinetic Cycle, British Cycling and Decathlon have joined forces to bring you Stevenage Cycling Festival.

The festival is a mix of all things cycling and is launching this spring with a range of fun and educational opportunities for all the family to enjoy. Over the next 7 months a full programme will be delivered across the town and will include the following:

  • Led rides for beginners and families
  • Confidence building training for women
  • Breeze led rides for women and girls
  • Social and themed rides
  • Bike Ability training courses for children and adults
  • Fun skills course for kids
  • Come and try it days and events
  • Bike maintenance made easy courses
  • …and much more!

Have you heard…

Did you know that Stevenage will host the final round of the 2017 Tour Series on Bank Holiday Monday, 29 May, building on the success of the town having hosted the 2016 Tour Series and 2015 Women’s Tour cycling events.

The Tour Series is a pro cycling event that will see Stevenage host men and women’s circuit races and a Team Time Trial event for the 13 women’s teams, who will compete to be the fastest over two laps of the Stevenage circuit. Highlights of all of the events will be shown on ITV4 on Tuesday 30 May.

Ten men’s teams, headlined by defending champions JLT Condor, and including ONE Pro Cycling, who return to The Tour Series after a year away will race in Stevenage.  2015 Champions Madison Genesis return along with Team Raleigh GAC, Bike Channel Canyon, Metaltek Kuota and Series debutants Morvélo Basso complete the line-up with three to be confirmed as guest teams.

Among the thirteen women’s teams who will race in Stevenage are the Drops team, who won last year’s Stevenage event with Alice Barnes, and Team WNT who boast British Cycling track stars Katie Archibald and Emily Kay.

If you want to be inspired, take part and spend time with your family or friends enjoying this high profile event head down to Stevenage Old Town on 29 May 2017 from 10am to experience a range of community activities before the pro racing starts at 3pm. The programme includes:

  • Community stalls (including challenges and prizes to be won)
  • Open course riding (just come along on your bike and ride the course, all welcome!)
  • Youth races (organised by British Cycling)*
  • Men and Women’s novice race*
  • Junior Sportive*
  • Category 4 Men’s club race*
  • Under 16 boys race (British Cycling)*
  • Free service and repairs
  • Free secure bike park
