Statement of Community Involvement

Planning decisions can have a fundamental impact on our quality of life. These decisions range from householder extensions through to the regeneration of the town centre. A Statement of Community Involvement has been prepared to help you have your say. It sets out how the Council will involve you in the preparation, alteration and review of local planning policies and planning applications. It states that we will involve you by:

  • providing information (e.g. via leaflets and the Council’s website)
  • consulting you (e.g. through surveys)
  • enabling you to participate in activities (e.g. through workshops).

We will involve you in planning applications using our website, newspapers and on-site notices. We will also send letters to neighbours. We will use public displays, public meetings and press releases for major applications.

The Statement of Community Involvement was adopted by the Borough Council on 29 May 2012.
