Stevenage Borough Local Plan: Proposed Main Modifications Consultation and Updated Sustainability Appraisal

The Local Plan was examined by an independent Inspector, appointed by the Secretary of State, earlier this year (January to March 2017). Details of the examination process and associated documents can be found on the Examination webpages.

The Inspector has now published a list of proposed Main Modifications to the submitted Plan which she considers are required to make the plan sound. The Council has also updated its Sustainability Appraisal of the Plan.  There is now an opportunity to comment on these proposed Main Modifications before the Inspector issues her final report.

The consultation documents can be viewed, and comments made, via the Council’s online consultation portal. Responses can also be sent via email to or by post to Planning Policy, Stevenage Borough Council, Daneshill House, Danestrete, Stevenage, SG1 1HN.

The documents

are also available to view at the following locations, during their standard opening/working hours:

  • Stevenage Borough Council Offices, Daneshill House
  • Stevenage Central Library, Southgate
  • Old Town Library, 38 High Street

Some minor modifications have also been proposed to the Stevenage Borough Local Plan and the Policies Map, however, these are not subject to consultation but are available to view:

If you have any queries with regard to the Proposed Main Modifications to the Local Plan, please contact the Planning Policy Team.

The Proposed Main Modifications consultation on the Local Plan opens 12pm on Monday 12 June 2017 and closes 12pm on Monday 24 July 2017.

This is the final version of the Plan prior to the issuing of the Inspectors Report.
The responses to the Proposed Main Modifications will be forwarded to the Inspector for her consideration.
